We’ve reviewed a couple other fleeces and do-all jackets on Women’s Gear Guide, but you can never have too many fleeces, right? I’m personally a huge fan of Patagonia, for a lot of reasons, one, they make great products that last a lifetime, two, if they happen to get damaged Patagonia offers a lifetime warranty, and, three they are actively involved in environment and conservation initiatives via two key programs: Common Threads and 1% for the Plant.
The Overview
The Patagonia Women’s Re-Tool Snap-T pullover comes in both men and women’s sizes and color options and is one of the most popular fleeces. You’re bound to see it worn around active, outdoor-oriented towns, on trails, camping and skiing or snowboarding—if you haven’t already. And there’s good reason this piece is so popular, it’s the do-all be everything fleece, layer and jacket. Made of Polartec Thermal Pro polyester fleece— an insulation fabric, made of 51 percent recycled materials—for a range of weather conditions. The Polartec Thermal Pro offers the highest warmth-to-weight You can wear it as layer with shell outerwear in the winter or and makes for a great spring and fall jacket. It’s also perfect for summer camping at high altitude (in the Rockies especially), since temperatures significantly drop after sunset. The Patagonia Women’s Re-Tool Snap-T compresses down, making it for ideal for backpacking or traveling.
Ladies specific?
The women’s version of the fleece features a flattering, feminine cut thanks to “princess and yoke” seamming, and comes to about hip length, which is a great features for women—like me who get cold backsides in the winter months. Style-wise, I loved how some of the color options offered pockets with different colors, i.e. grey body with a purple pocket and trim (absolutely adorable).
Other great features:
- Kangaroo handwarmer pockets (another plus for ladies who get cold hands).
- Brushed polyester microfleece trim on cuffs and hem.
- Supplex nylon chest pocket flap with stay-put envelope construction.
